What's Your Past?
Discover how a property’s past can predict its future. In this session, underwriters will learn how to use your association’s free property history software to uncover valuable data about homes and farms before issuing coverage. Gain hands-on skills to quickly identify red flags, verify prior losses, and understand patterns that impact underwriting decisions. You're Gone...But When?
This course will provide Illinois underwriters with a practical, code-based overview of when and how personal lines policies may be legally cancelled or non-renewed, with a focus on non-payment, misrepresentation or fraud, and measurable increases in risk during key time frames such as the first 60 days, after 60 days, and after five years of coverage. Attendees will review required advance notice periods (including 10-, 30-, and 60-day notice), proof of mailing expectations, and special rules for company-initiated changes such as deductible or coverage revisions and premium increases of 30 percent or more. The session will also highlight prohibited reasons for termination, rehabilitation requirements and timelines for property conditions, and the need for clear, consumer-understandable reasons in every cancellation or non-renewal notice, all using the Illinois Insurance Code chart as the central reference tool.

Closing the Loop
This technical session explores how to build a data-driven feedback loop between claims and underwriting so that every new underwriting decision benefits from past loss experience. We will focus on which claims data elements matter most, how to analyze loss trends by segment, and how to translate those insights into concrete changes in pricing, appetite, and coverage terms. Through practical examples, participants will see how connected workflows and shared analytics can improve risk selection, reduce loss ratios, and strengthen portfolio performance.

Insurance & Outbuildings
This course provides licensed property-casualty professionals with a practical review of how farmowners policies treat outbuildings and other detached structures, including common definitions, coverage triggers, exclusions, and valuation concerns. Participants will explore when to insure, limit, or exclude coverage, and how to align rating strategies with exposures. A visual review of the more common out building types will be shared along with some of the characteristics to consider when insuring them.
